"Although there was evening brightness showing through the windows of the bunk house, inside it was dusk" (38).

Bunkhouse

Plot Summary:

At the end of their first workday, Lennie and George return to their bunkhouse. Slim agrees on giving one of his pups to Lennie. Slim appreciates George's friendship with Lennie, saying that it is a change in the world where no one cares for anyone else. Candy's dog is shot in the back of the head, because it was good to no one, and they would be putting the dog out of its misery. Curley attacks Lennie, who crushes Curley's hand by overpowering him in strength.

My Response:

I was not expecting a fight to happen in this chapter, especially involving Lennie. It was intense and exciting. It reveals just how strong and dangerous Lennie can be. I also feel that people can finally realize that they've been underestimating Lennie. People tend to think that people who have certain problems are lesser than, weaker, or not as important as them. This chapter showed that the people who appear weak can snap at any second.
